GottaKickit |
Our GottaKickit software is available for the T-Mobile G1 and other mobile phones running the Google Android operating system.
The Android realization of GKi has the same interface and features as the Apple iPhone version described elsewhere on this site. We have even taken advantage of features of the Android operating system to provide additional functionality in some areas.
1. Notification: After launching GottaKickit for Android (GKi-A), notifications are generated at each smoke time even if the user navigates away from the application. The Settings page lets you select whether an audible, vibrating, or flashing alarm will be activated at the scheduled smoking time, but in all cases the GKi cigarette icon will be displayed in the status bar as well.
In a meeting or when responding to email, you can continue to work and use all your phone features without fear of missing a notification. Battery life is maximized because the phone can sleep whenever it is not in use — the notifications alert the user without waking the application.
Dragging down the “window blind” from the status bar reveals the notifications in detail.
Tapping the “GKi smoke notification” message (see image) launches or resumes the GottaKickit application. After a few moments, the Smoke Time screen will appear.

2. Navigation: Moving between the Home, Info and Settings views can be accomplished with the three main tabs, as in the iPhone version. In addition, the G1 features a physical Back button, which provides a convenient way of returning to a previous screen — from Settings back to Home, for example.
When you log a smoke, GKi automatically sets the alarm for your next smoke time. If the notification came in the middle of some other activity, you can return to it now. Otherwise, simply press the End Call button to put the phone to sleep.
